About the Role
Dar Essalam American School (DAS) in Rabat, Morocco, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Elementary Classroom Teacher to join our growing international team. DAS teachers play a vital role in fostering high student performance and happiness by delivering engaging, high-quality instruction aligned with international benchmarks.

DAS elementary school teachers are responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering high standards of instruction that result in ever-increasing student performance against international benchmarks. They are also responsible for creating a physical and emotional environment for students that is safe, supportive, motivatin,g and in all ways conducive to learning.

To be a successful DAS classroom teacher, you should be able to create an environment that is welcoming to students from different backgrounds and cultures. Ultimately, an exceptional classroom teacher will encourage students to interact with each other to improve their English-speaking skills, to adopt an inquisitive and creative approach to their learning, and to encourage and motivate students to explore the world around them. This teacher will be asked to collaborate with other disciplines, specifically to infuse language into content area learning.

Role and Responsibilities

• Conduct activities and lessons based on Finnish and American methodologies.
• Foster an inclusive, positive learning environment that promotes student engagement and motivation.
• Maintain excellent classroom management and ensure students' social and emotional well-being.
• Collaborate with colleagues to provide personalized learning opportunities and to develop the DAS curriculum.
• Regularly communicate with parents and the school principal about student progress and performance.
• Maintain accurate student records and provide constructive feedback.

Typical Duties

• Plan and deliver age-appropriate lessons tailored to meet diverse student needs.
• Integrate hands-on activities and technology into instructional practices.
• Develop Personal Learning Plans (PLPs) for students in collaboration with parents and colleagues.
• Participate in extracurricular activities, including clubs and events, to enhance the school community.
• Promote cultural diversity and incorporate cross-cultural perspectives into lessons.
• Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching strategies.
• Ensure student safety and follow health and safety procedures during school activities.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Education (preferred) or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of proven teaching experience in elementary education.
• Experience in Finnish-style schools or with Finnish curriculum and instructional strategies.
• Exceptional communication, classroom management, and collaboration skills.
• Training in child protection and safeguarding.

• Experience in international or culturally diverse environments.
• Familiarity with technology-based educational solutions.
• Visionary and strategically minded thinker.
• Proficiency in French and/or Arabic is an advantage.
