About the Role

Dar Essalam American School (DAS) in Rabat, Morocco, is seeking a skilled and passionate Elementary Music Teacher to join our growing international team. DAS teachers play a vital role in fostering high student performance and happiness by delivering engaging, high-quality instruction aligned with international benchmarks.

DAS music teachers are responsible for creating vibrant, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences that foster students’ musicality, creativity, and confidence. Music education at DAS supports not only artistic development but also social, emotional, and cognitive growth, with a strong emphasis on inclusion and expression.

This teacher will work collaboratively with colleagues across disciplines to integrate music with language development and inquiry-based learning, contributing to a rich, interdisciplinary educational experience.

Role and Responsibilities

• Plans and prepares lessons that engage students and meet DAS music curriculum objectives.

• Incorporates students’ musical interests, other school subjects, integrative themes, school festivities, and events into music teaching and learning.

• Regularly assesses student progress in music.

• Creates a physical and emotional classroom environment that is conducive to learning and maximizes both performance and well-being.

• Acts as an active member of the learning community and contributes to its ongoing development.

• Fosters an inclusive, positive learning environment that promotes student engagement and motivation.

• Maintains excellent classroom management and supports students’ social and emotional well-being.

• Collaborates with colleagues to provide personalized learning opportunities and to develop the DAS curriculum. Communicates regularly with parents and the school principal regarding student progress and performance.

Typical Duties

• Plan and deliver age-appropriate lessons tailored to meet diverse student needs.

• Participate in extracurricular activities, including clubs and events, to enhance the school community.

• Promote cultural diversity and incorporate cross-cultural perspectives into lessons.

• Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching strategies.

• Ensure student safety and follow health and safety procedures during school activities.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Music Education or a related field (preferred)

• Minimum of 5 years of classroom experience, ideally in music or performing arts.

• Exceptional communication, classroom management, and collaboration skills.

• Training in child protection and safeguarding.

• Experience in international or culturally diverse environments.

• Familiarity with technology-based educational solutions.

• Visionary and strategically minded thinker.

• Proficiency in French and/or Arabic is an advantage.
