About the Role
Dar Essalam American School (DAS) in Rabat, Morocco, is seeking an experienced and innovative Home Economics Teacher to join our team. This role involves teaching essential life skills, such as cooking, nutrition, and household management, to elementary and middle school students. The teacher will play a key role in curriculum development and fostering an engaging, inclusive learning environment that motivates students to explore creativity, practical skills, and independence.

Role and Responsibilities

• Deliver specialized instruction in home economics tailored to elementary and middle school students.
• Foster a supportive, motivating environment that ensures students’ social and emotional safety.
• Collaborate with colleagues to design and enhance the home economics curriculum.
• Engage in collaborative teaching efforts and contribute to the overall school culture.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and provide constructive feedback.

Typical Duties

• Plan and deliver age-appropriate lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum.
• Integrate hands-on, practical activities and technology into instructional practices.
• Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
• Collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues to develop personalized learning plans (PLPs).
• Participate in extracurricular activities, such as clubs and events, to support a well-rounded education.
• Promote cultural sensitivity and incorporate diverse perspectives into lessons.
• Participate in professional development opportunities and school-wide initiatives.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Education or equivalent.
• Subject teaching qualification in Home Economics or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of proven teaching experience.
• Familiarity with Finnish educational practices and curriculum development.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.
• Training in child protection and safeguarding.

• Experience in international or culturally diverse settings.
• Knowledge of technology-based educational tools.
• Visionary and strategic thinking abilities.
• Proficiency in French and/or Arabic is an advantage.
